Catherine (Cathy) Mueller
Director of Health Informatics
As NewWave’s Director of Health Informatics, Catherine (Cathy) Mueller serves as the Clinical lead driving the vision and approach to integrating and optimizing data analytics strategies in NewWave’s healthcare projects. With over 25 years of direct clinical care experience and over 10 years of Healthcare project management with Six Sigma and Lean process improvement, she brings in-depth experience in understanding the data NewWave is reporting and how the team can impact improved patient outcomes.
Just prior to joining NewWave, Cathy served as the Director of Special Projects at Telligen where she provided leadership for various projects including AHRQ’s Program for Patient Safety Organization Privacy Protection Center (PSOPPC) and the Continuous Internal Quality Improvement Program (CIQIP) efforts for the Quality Innovation Network Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) for CO, IL, and IA. Working in partnership with the Analytic team, she managed the QIN-QIO efforts to establish and refine the measures, and establish the monitoring and reporting mechanisms at the various required levels.
Cathy’s clinical work included Inpatient Hospital care, Outpatient care and physician office settings. As an Oncology Certified Nurse (ONC) her work spanned from Chemotherapy treatments, vascular access expertise, managing a full service Cancer Center and supporting American Cancer Society and Hospice boards. With over 25 years of clinical experience and advanced practice nursing, she was recruited to work at GE as part of their Project Management team to be a liaison between clinical staff and software developers, where she received her Project Management, Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean, Facilitation and Change Management training and experience in multiple healthcare settings. Cathy’s passion for data driven change is founded on many years of patient care and the experience in using Six Sigma in many healthcare settings to impact positive outcomes.
Cathy earned her Master of Science degree in Nursing at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C and her Master’s Certificate of Project Management at George Washington University/ ESI. She completed her Bachelors of Nursing from Wesley College.
